All continuing education events offered by a SACAVA approved Educational Providership holder shall meet the SACAVA Standards for Continuing Education (I.B. above).
There shall be a designated contact person, named on the Educational Providership application, who is authorized by the sponsoring body to assume the responsibility for continuing education offerings to addictions, prevention, or clinical supervisor professionals. If the designated contact person is not a Certified Addictions Counselor, Certified Prevention Professional, or Certified Clinical Supervisor, provision should be made for insuring the input of a Certified Addictions Counselor, Certified Prevention Professional, or Certified Clinical Supervisor in the program planning and evaluation. The Board shall be notified of any change in the designated contact person.
At least fifteen (15) days prior to each event, SACAVA shall be advised in writing of the following information:
- complete title of the training event
- name of the presenter
- synopsis of the training objectives
- date(s) of the training
- location of the training
- number of contact hours awarded
SACAVA Educational Providers shall maintain a secure system of record-keeping which will provide for the storage of information relative to each continuing education offering. The record will contain at least the following information:
- complete title of the training event
- name and resume of the presenter
- synopsis of the training objectives
- date(s) of the training
- location of the training
- number of contact hours awarded
- roster of attendees
- evaluations of the training event
All records pertaining to the Educational Providers and the training provided under its aegis shall be maintained for a least three (3) years.
Records relative to continuing education offered under the Educational Provider shall be made available, upon written request, to any member of the Board of SACAVA who is acting on behalf of the Board.
At the time of application, the Board shall be provided with a
sample Certificate of
Attendance (EXAMPLE ONLY!) which includes space for the following:
- Education Provider name and provider number
- Name of participant
- Title of the training
- Date(s) of the training
- Number of contact hours awarded
- Signature of provider contact person, or designee.
Educational Providers shall furnish each participant who successfully completes a training event with an authentic Certificate of Attendance.
At the time of application, the Board shall be provided with a sample of an evaluation instrument by which the participants can evaluate the learning experience, instructional methods, facilities and resources utilized for the training event.
SACAVA shall be supplied with one scholarship to each training event offering so that the Board may, from time to time, monitor training events. For academic courses offered for credit by universities and colleges,
scholarship shall be interpreted to mean a random audit of class presentations.
SACAVA shall be notified immediately of any significant alterations which may impact on the maintenance of the SAVAVA standards for Continuing Education.
